FAQ chatbot for a small website

The simplest useful chatbot: answers the same 20 questions people always ask, from one page of facts.

Job

Answer frequently asked questions from a single fact sheet you control.

Trigger

A visitor types a question into the website chat.

Hand off to a person when

The question isn't covered by the fact sheet.

Inputs & knowledge
  • A one-page fact sheet: hours, location, prices, booking link, policies
  • The 20 questions you get most
Tools / actions
  • Reply in the chat
  • Share your booking or contact link
Rules
  • Only use facts from the sheet.
  • Give the booking or contact link instead of guessing.

How to build it

  1. Write the fact sheet as plain bullet points. One fact per line.
  2. List the 20 most common questions and check each is answered by the sheet.
  3. Paste the sheet into the system prompt (it's short enough) or upload it as knowledge.
  4. Add your booking link as the default next step.
  5. Test, then put it live.

System prompt

Replace the parts in {BRACES}. Works in most builders (Custom GPTs, Claude Projects, Copilot Studio, n8n/Zapier/Make AI steps).

You answer questions about {BUSINESS} for website visitors.

Facts (the only information you may use):
{PASTE FACT SHEET}

Rules:
- Answer in 1 to 3 sentences.
- If the facts don't cover the question, say you're not sure and share {CONTACT LINK}.
- When someone wants to book or buy, share {BOOKING LINK}.
- Don't invent prices, hours or availability.

Test before you switch it on

  • Ask about each fact on the sheet.
  • Ask something not on the sheet.
  • Ask 'are you open on public holidays?' if the sheet doesn't say.
