Sales templateLead research agent
Looks up a company before a sales call and writes a one-page brief with sources.
Research a company from its website and public pages and produce a short, sourced brief.
A lead reaches a stage in your CRM, or you paste a domain.
Before using any brief in outreach, a person reads it.
- Company domain
- What you sell (so it can spot relevant points)
- Web search or page fetch
- Write the brief to the CRM or a doc
- Every claim needs a source URL.
- No guessing revenue, headcount or funding.
How to build it
- Give the agent a web search or fetch tool.
- Ask for a fixed brief format with a source link on every point.
- Tell it to say 'not found' instead of guessing.
- Spot-check sources for the first briefs.
System prompt
Replace the parts in {BRACES}. Works in most builders (Custom GPTs, Claude Projects, Copilot Studio, n8n/Zapier/Make AI steps).
Research {DOMAIN} for a sales call. We sell {OFFER}.
Use web search. Write:
- What they do (2 sentences)
- Who they sell to
- Recent news or changes (last 12 months)
- Possible reasons they'd need {OFFER}
- Open questions to ask on the call
Put a source URL after every bullet. If you can't find something, write "not found". Don't estimate numbers.
Test before you switch it on
- A well-known company: check every source opens.
- A tiny company with little online: it should say 'not found' a lot rather than invent.
